Network of Human Rights Houses calls on Georgian authorities to address the increasingly hostile environment for human rights defenders in Georgia
We, the undersigned members of the network of Human Rights Houses, are alarmed at the increasingly hostile environment for human rights defenders in Georgia and call on the Georgian authorities to take immediate actions to stem this dangerous tide.
HRC45: Human rights in Georgia
On 5 October 2020, Human Rights House Foundation (HRHF) delivered a statement at the Human Rights Council on the human rights situation in Georgia. In the statement, HRHF and Human Rights House Tbilisi delivered recommendations to the Council calling for the High Commissioner to focus on issues affecting human rights defenders in the country. We also called on Georgia to protect and publicly support its human rights defenders.

Concerns about responses by state authorities to the global COVID-19 crisis
The network of Human Rights Houses is concerned by recent actions on the part of state authorities across western and eastern Europe, the western Balkans, and the Caucasus in response to the escalating COVID-19 crisis. These actions, taken to combat the rising number of infections and deaths associated with COVID-19, raise questions about states’ commitments to civic freedoms and human rights.

Georgian photographer wins Portraits of Strength Competition
On Friday 17 January 2020, the “Portraits of Strength” jury unanimously chose Georgian photographer Salome Sagaradze’s photograph of Baia Pataraia of Human Rights House Tbilisi as the competition’s winner.
