EU Parliament maintains principled position in resolution on Belarus

On Thursday 24 November, the European Parliament (EP) adopted a resolution on the situation in Belarus. This addresses elections in the country, expresses concern at the lack of progress, and calls on the Belarusian authorites to address these concerns.

Society encourages femicide, which permanently blames the woman in the facts of violence

In accordance to the survey report by the UN Population Fund, every 11th women is victim of domestic violence. According to the report of the Public Defender of Georgia, 21 women were killed in Georgia in 2013, 23 women were killed in 2014 and 28 facts of femicide and attempted femicide were observed in 2015. It is brief and alarming statistics provided by the civil society in Georgia.

Photo exhibition “The Stolen Days”

The exhibition of Maxim Sarychau “Stolen days” is located at the cell # 8 of former KGB prison in Vilnius (Museum of the genocide victims). This is the first major show of the project, which was opened on December 1st and will be available till March 12th, 2017. Exhibition was created with the help of “Viasna” HRC Volunteer Service.

#HRHN2016 Assembly: A look at day one

Each Human Rights House presented and discussed their work, and then the focus expanded to joint activities, specifically the Network campaign to protect and support human rights defenders in Azerbaijan. Discussions then turned to opportunities for partnership with donors, and how donors and civil society can address State restrictions on foreign funding.
