On 11 July 2019, Human Rights House Foundation delivered a statement at the Human Rights Council expressing concern at the recent handling of peaceful protests in Georgia.

In a statement to the UN Human Rights Council (HRC41) on 10 July 2019, HRHF focused on freedom expression in Crimea which has deteriorated since the beginning of the Russian occupation of the peninsula.

Belarusian human rights organisations have issued a joint position on EU-Belarus dialogue as well as recommendations to both parties following a 6th round of dialogue on 18 June in Brussels.

In a statement at HRC 41, HRHF calls on the UN Human Rights Council to renew the mandate of the Special Rapporteur on Belarus, support Belarus in implementing its recommendations from human rights treaty bodies, and encourage Belarus to expand on its meaningful cooperation with civil society.

This follows the UN special rapporteur on freedom of association and assembly presenting his report on his November 2018 visit to Armenia.

Ensure the freedoms of assembly and expression of the LGBT community in Georgia and those defending their rights, urge 37 member and partner NGOs of Human Rights Houses in a letter to the Georgian government.

In a letter to member states of the Human Rights Council, HRHF and other international NGOs urge the Council to renew the mandate of the Special Rapporteur on Belarus. Further, they set out tangible steps that Belarus can take to address “systemic human rights challenges” in the country.

Human Rights House Belgrade and its members have strongly condemned statements by the Serbian authorities directed against judge Miodrag Majic, who expressed his opposition to amendments to the country’s criminal code.

Human Rights House Tbilisi, its member organisations, and a coalition of NGOs have issued a joint statement urging the  Georgian authorities to take all necessary measures to effectively investigate Afgan Mukhtarli’s alleged abduction and hold any offenders accountable.
