HRHF believes that Human Rights Lawyers play a critical role in upholding human rights. Their independence and protection is essential.

One of HRHF’s key priorities for many years has been to change the conversation about lawyers within the human rights space. We specifically refer to these individuals as human rights lawyers and promote the concept that they, too, are human rights defenders and are entitled protections and considerations as such. This toolkit goes a long way to clearly articulate the international and regional opportunities for human rights lawyers to seek justice and protection for their work.

Dave Elseroad, Head of Advocacy, Human Rights House Foundation

The Toolkit is aimed at facilitating the efforts of those seeking to protect lawyers who are attacked for performing their professional duties and representing their clients’ interests.
