Belarusian Human Rights Organizations express their joint position as regards the human rights situation in Belarus.

The UN Human Rights Council (HRC) has responded to the recent crackdown on peaceful protests by the Belarusian government, and to the multiple concerns raised by Human Rights House Foundation (HRHF) and its partners, by passing a stronger resolution with an increased majority from 2016 on Belarus which has also renewed the mandate of the UN Special Rapporteur on Belarus for a further year.

On 14 June Miklós Haraszti presented the fifth report on the situation with human rights in Belarus during the 35th UN Human Rights Council session.

Representatives of the Belarusian human rights organisations demand the immediate release of all defendants in the case of “preparing mass riots”.

From 30 May to 1 June, Valiantsin Stefanovich, lawyer of the Human Rights Center “Viasna”, and Anna Gerasimova, Director of the Barys Zvozskau Belarusian Human Rights House, met with the delegations of various countries to the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva to inform them about the situation with human rights in Belarus.

Human Rights House Tbilisi and the Belarusian Human Rights House, with HRHF, have written to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, urging support at the June 2017 session of the Human Rights Council for the renewal of the UN mandate on Belarus.
