У Мінску арыштаваныя праваабаронцы

23 сакавіка ў Мінску былі затрыманыя праваабаронцы, што ладзілі акцыю супраць прымянення смяротнага пакарання ў краіне. Пасля затрымання супрацоўнікамі службы бяспекі прэзідэнта, яны былі дастаўленыя ў аддзяленне міліцыі, дзе будуць чакаць суда па артыкуле 23.34 КаАП – “парушэнне правілаў правядзення масавых мерапрыемстваў”. Ноч да суду праваабаронцы Алесь Бяляцкі, Валянцін Стэфановіч і Ірына Тоўсцік правядуць у Цэнтры ізаляцыі правапарушальнікаў.

Burma: 2010 elections may bring no change

The Movement for Democracy and Rights for Ethnic Nationalities (MDREN) released a document, signed also by Aung San Suu Kyi’s political party analyzing Burma’s upcoming 2010 election and giving possible solutions. According to it, election will not bring democracy, security, or national reconciliation to the country. The reason is undemocratic 2008 Constitution.

Discrimination and segregation of Roma pupils in Croatian schools

The European Court of Human Rights ruled last week that the segregation of Roma in primary schools in Medjimurje, Republic of Croatia, was discriminatory. Fifteen Croatian nationals of Roma origin had complained to the Court in Strasbourg that they had been segregated at their primary schools because they belong to the Roma ethnicity.

First national children’s conference held in Skopje

The First Children’s Embassy in the World Megjashi organized the First National Children’s Conference for Child Participation on the 16th of March 2010, Tuesday, at the Youth Cultural Center, Cinema “Frosina”. The conference was a part of the project Building a Culture of Child Participation, financed by the European Union, and co-financed by UNICEF.

Norwegian Helsinki Committee condemns raids against independent media in Belarus

On the Day of Solidarity in the Republic of Belarus, 16 March 2010, searches were carried out in the offices of the web-site charter97.org and in the office of the independent newspaper “Narodnaya Volya”. The journalist Natalya Radzina was beaten during the raid.
