In a statement to the UN Human Rights Council (HRC41) on 10 July 2019, HRHF focused on freedom expression in Crimea which has deteriorated since the beginning of the Russian occupation of the peninsula.

Human rights lawyer Emil Kurbedinov has sentenced to administrative detention in Crimea on charges related to extremism. Members of Human Rights Houses in Ukraine and international human rights organisations, including HRHF, condemn his detention and the persecution of lawyers in Crimea.

Bringing to life the stories of human rights defenders forced to leave their homes, Human Rights Houses Crimea and Chernihiv will host exhibits and installations focused on the suitcases of displaced defenders.
