For weeks we have been following the protests against Alexander Lukashenko’s regime in Belarus. Before us, we see a repetition of the large, seemingly leaderless demonstrations in recent years around the world — from Tahrir Square in Cairo, to the democracy riots in Hong Kong and Black Lives Matter in the United States, to the undulating crowd in Minsk.

Celebrating human rights in Ufa, Russia
In September, the Russian city of Ufa became the fifth in the country to host the “City of Rights/City is Right” festival. For three days, participants engaged in human rights events and activities including the unveiling of a monument celebrating the universal declaration of human rights.
HRC45: Human rights in Georgia
On 5 October 2020, Human Rights House Foundation (HRHF) delivered a statement at the Human Rights Council on the human rights situation in Georgia. In the statement, HRHF and Human Rights House Tbilisi delivered recommendations to the Council calling for the High Commissioner to focus on issues affecting human rights defenders in the country. We also called on Georgia to protect and publicly support its human rights defenders.
