Prosecuting war crimes in Croatia
Documenta, Civic Committee for Human Rights (GOLJP) and Center for Peace, Non-Violence and Human Rights Osijek, held a round table late last month in Zagreb, on topic Prosecutions of war crimes in the Republic of Croatia. These organizations also published a report “Monitoring war crimes trials” for year 2008.
Protest against inadequate Croatian asylum system
Last week in Zagreb, activists of the Center for Peace Studies (CMS) peacefully demonstrated in front of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Republic of Croatia against the inertness and intransparency of the government institutions responsible for the asylum issues in the Republic of Croatia.
International Conference: Youth and Peace Building
Late last month, youth from 16 countries gathered for an international conference on youth and peace building in Donja Stubica, Republic of Croatia. B.a.B.e. in PILI’s pro bono legal assistance program
B.a.B.e. has established a cooperation with The Public Interest Law Institute (PILI) regarding their Pro Bono legal assistance program which offers Croatian NGOs vast possibilities for providing more efficient legal help to the citizens whose rights have been or are violated in the Republic of Croatia.
Raising local voices in Croatia
Harmonization of the Croatian legal system with the legal standards of the EU, represents one of the main challenges of the Croatian integration process. The Law of free legal help and Anti-discriminatory law are mere examples of new regulative frames which emerged out of need of coherence of Croatian legal system with those in EU.
