Enver Djuliman from the Norwegian Helsinki Committee receives Blanche Majors Reconciliation Prize

The prize is awarded by “Travel for peace”, and is to be awarded each year to persons or organizations that work actively for reconciliation. Mr. Djuliman receives the prize for his good work for refugees in Norway and the Norwegian society in general, as well as for his contribution to reconciliation processes in ex-Yugoslavia.

Photo Exhibition in the Rafto House in Bergen

An exhibition of Nicolaza Hernandez’ photographs from ancient South American cultures will be organized in the Egil Rafto Human Rights House in the period 5-16 May. A lecture on the rights of indigenous people will be held at the opening of the exhibition on 5 May. (30-APR-03)

USA, Iraq, and International Justice

USA´s ambassador for war crimes has suggested that people who committed war crimes during the Saddam Hussein era be tried in Iraqi courts. In a letter to the Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs the Norwegian Helsinki Committee argues that these courts will not be independent and impartial, and that Norway and other countries should strive to establish an international tribunal for Iraqi war crimes.
