HRC54: The Human Rights Situation in the Russian Federation
Human Rights House Foundation hosted a side event exploring the human rights situation in the Russian Federation on 20 September 2023. The side event was held ahead of the first Interactive Dialogue by the new UN Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in Russia, and featured a discussion with with representatives of Russian civil society and the Special Rapporteur.

In Search for Solidarity: Connecting human rights defenders in Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova
In 2022, 480+ participants new to human rights and of diverse backgrounds from Ukraine, Georgia and Moldova participated in the “In Search for Solidarity” project. At the 53rd session of the UN Human Rights Council, Human Rights House Foundation (HRHF) continued to underline the alarming human rights trends prevailing in Eastern Europe. Alongside members of the Network of Human Rights Houses and other partners, HRHF once again urged the Council to adopt decisive measures in response to the pressing regional crisis, including on the issues of freedom of expression, assembly, and association, as well as pressure facing judges and lawyers.

14 July 2023 marks two years since human rights defender Ales Bialiatski was detained in Belarus alongside his Viasna colleagues Valiantsin Stefanovich and Uladzimir Labkovich. HRHF spoke to Bialiatski’s wife Natalia Pinchuk ahead of the day.
Georgia’s authorities must protect, without discrimination, the universal and fundamental rights of all people in Georgia, including freedoms of assembly and expression of LGBT+ groups and their supporters, and human rights defenders.
We, the undersigned Georgian and international human rights and civil society organisations, condemn the 8 July attack against the Tbilisi Pride festival and call on the Georgia authorities to fully investigate and hold to accountable all those responsible.
