The United Nations Special Rapporteur on Belarus, Miklós Haraszti, will visit Vilnius the 12-13 July 2013 to hold consultations with representatives of Belarusian civil society on the human rights situation in the country.

The conference will discuss the situation of human rights in Azerbaijan in the context of the Universal Periodic Review, the advocacy activities and the future steps. Maina Kiai, Special Rapporteur on the rights to freedom of peaceful assembly and of association, will be one of the speakers.

Fritt Ord’s and Zeit-Stiftung’s Press Prizes for Russia and Easter Europe will be will be bestowed at an award ceremony at The Norwegian Nobel Institute, Henrik Ibsens gate 51, Oslo, on Thursday June 20 at 12.00 h.

Following the visit of the United Nations Special Rapporteur on independence of judges and lawyers to Russia, we organise a side-event on the worrying situation in the country.

The United Nations Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in Belarus will present his report on 4 June to the Human Rights Council. At the opening of the 23rd session of the Human Rights Council on Monday 27 May, a coalition of NGOs organises a side-event on the situation in Belarus.
