The human rights situation in occupied Crimea

In the context of the Human Rights Council’s 54th session, and interactive dialogues with the International Independent Commission of Inquiry on Ukraine and the High Commissioner on Human Rights, People in Need and Human Rights House Foundation are hosting an evening devoted to the human rights situation in occupied Crimea on Tuesday 26 September at Cinerama Empire Cinema, Geneva.

HRC54: The Human Rights Situation in the Russian Federation

Human Rights House Foundation hosted a side event exploring the human rights situation in the Russian Federation on 20 September 2023. The side event was held ahead of the first Interactive Dialogue by the new UN Special Rapporteur on the human rights situation in Russia, and featured a discussion with with representatives of Russian civil society and the Special Rapporteur.

HRC53: Nine Years of Darkness – Human Rights in Crimea

On 11 July 2023, Human Rights House Foundation and the Permanent Mission of Ukraine to the United Nations in Geneva co-hosted a side event at the 53rd session of the Human Rights Council aiming to shed light on the human rights situation in Crimea. The side event was co-sponsored by several states and Ukrainian civil society organisations.

HRC53: Human Rights Situation in Belarus

On 5 July 2023, Human Rights House Foundation hosted a side event at the 53rd session of the UN Human Rights Council on the human rights situation in Belarus. The event is organised with the financial support of the European Union and is co-sponsored by Belarusian and international civil society organsiations, as well as several state missions to the UN in Geneva.

“Without dreaming big there is no thinking big” – Network workshop on building impactful projects

From 12-15 June 2023, 20 participants from the Network of Human Rights Houses gathered in Vilnius, Lithuania, for “From Idea to Impact”, a workshop organised by Human Rights House Foundation focused on designing and implementing impactful human rights projects. The workshop was co-funded by the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the European Union.

On 26 June 2023, Human Rights House Foundation will host “The role of civil society in promoting & protecting human rights”, a pre-event at the OSCE Supplementary Human Dimension Meeting. “Stories from occupied Crimea” exhibited in Kyiv, Brussels and Vilnius

On May 18, the “Stories from occupied Crimea” photo exhibition opened in the capital cities of Ukraine, Belgium and Lithuania, marking the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of the Deportation of the Crimean Tatar People. The exhibition sheds light on the renewed repressions of Crimean Tatars since the 2014 occupation of the peninsula by Russia.

Call for applications: 2023 Advocacy Training Programme for network of Human Rights Houses

Human Rights House Foundation (HRHF) invites advocates and human rights defenders from the network of Human Rights Houses to apply for the first Advocacy Training Programme which will take place between June and December 2023. Apply by 16 April 2023.
