The Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina presented today the Draft Law against Discrimination, which was officially submitted yesterday  to the BiH Minister for Human Rights and Refugees, Safet Halilovic, with a proposal for the Ministry to launch the initiative for adoption of the draft law in the parliament. The conclusion of Burma’s National Convention on Monday shows that Burma’s military intends to ignore public sentiment and remain in power indefinitely, said Human Rights Watch today. “The end of the national convention heralds neither reform nor change in Burma (Republic of the Union of Myanmar),” said Brad Adams, Asia director at Human Rights Watch. “It merely marks the end of a long, drawn-out chapter of faits accomplis designed by the military to stay in power.” (05-SEP-07)
 

On Thursday 13 September, in collaboration with the Nansen Dialogue Network (NDN) and the Norwegian Peace Alliance, the Norwegian Peace Association will organise a seminar on the current situation in Former Yugoslavia, with focus on the interethnic dialogue-work being done by the Nansen Dialogue Network in the region. During the current school year in the Republic of Poland, the grade point average of a student participating in religion classes will include the grade from this subject. About 10% (according to the Roman Catholic Church 90% of all students from above elementary school level attend these classes) of students, e.g. grammar school students, will not have the opportunity to change (improve) their grade point average due to the lack of an alternative (e.g. ethics classes). (31-AUG-07)
