Belarusian HRH and HRHF concerned about non-registration of Nasha Viasna
Belarusian Human Rights House in exile in Lithuania and the Human Rights House Foundation sent a letter of concern to the Belarusian authorities today, expressing their deep disappointment with the decision of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Belarus to turn down the appeal against non-registration of the human rights organisation Nasha Viasna.

Supreme Court of Belarus: Nasha Viasna should not be registered
The founders of the well-known Belarusian human rights association “Nasha Viasna” did not manage to get abolished the decision of the Ministry of Justice on the non-registration. The Supreme Court ruled that the Ministry had reasons to deny the state registration to the NGO.

Вярхоўны Суд пакінуў скаргу без задавальнення і не адмяніў рашэнне Мін’юсту аб адмове ў рэгістрацыі арганізацыі.

Free expression organisations condemn Aung San Suu Kyi verdict
Free expression organisations have condemned the verdict against Aung San Suu Kyi and her sentencing to a further 18 months of house arrest. This unjust judgment by a court in Rangoon’s Insein Prison means that the pro-democracy leader will not be able to take part in the country’s forthcoming elections, due to take place next year.
Media Services Act – the statement of Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights
The Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights made a statement to the President of Republic of Poland regarding the dratf legislation for the Public Activity within the Sphere of Media Services Act. The President of Republic of Poland declined to sign the draft in July 2009.
