Experts fro Independent Psychiatric Association of Russia will visit psycho-neurological hospital of Moscow within the joint project of Human Rights House Foundation Russian Research Center for Human Rights ‘Prevention of tortures and violent treatment in closed establishments of Russia’. The aim of the visit is to collecting information about physical conditions of the patients, cases of violent and rude treatment of the patients by the staff of the hospitals, working out measure son prevention of treatment of the kind.

In cooperation with the Smolensk Department on education and science regional public organization ‘Right of the Child’ will hold a round table ‘Children without violence’. The coordinator of the project Svetlana Pronina will make a report on the most urgent problems of children’s rights protection. The event was visited by human rights activists, teachers, representatives of the state bodies, controlling childish institutions and the media.

In cooperation with the regional partners regional public organization ‘Right of the Child’ will participate in a tree-days’ conference in St. Petersburg within the project ‘Doctors for Children’ with the aim to organize a network of non-government organizations and state institutions, dealing with issues of children’s rights protection.

The event will be held within the joint project of Human Rights House Foundation Russian Research center for Human Rights ‘Prevention of tortures and violent treatment in closed establishments of Russia’. Regional partner of the organization will also discuss issues regarding coalition with the same name.

Members of Russian research Center will participate in the public discussion of the film “Sergey Magnitsky – Justice, Law, Destiny” issued by Dutch producers in 2010.

17 ноября 2010 года в 19.00 в Киноклубе Сахаровского центра по адресу: ул. Земляной вал, д. 57, стр. 6 (проезд до ст. метро «Курская», «Чкаловская», «Таганская») состоится премьера документального фильма «Сергей Магнитский – Справедливость. Закон. Судьба» (Голландия, 2010 г., режиссеры: Ганс Герман, Мартин Маат, продолжительность – 52 мин.)

В обсуждении фильма примут участие видные общественные деятели: Людмила Алексеева, председатель Московской Хельсинкской Группы, Михаил Федотов, председатель Совета при Президенте РФ по содействию развитию институтов гражданского общества и правам человека, Елена Панфилова, руководитель московского представительства Transparency International.

16 ноября 2010 года исполнился ровно год со дня трагической гибели в московском следственном изоляторе Сергея Магнитского – российского гражданина, патриота своей страны, отца двоих детей, который отстаивал до последнего дыхания свою честь и человеческое достоинство в неравной схватке с коррупцией.
Его гибель всколыхнула российское и мировое сообщество. Многие граждане России приняли эту трагедию, близко к сердцу, так как на месте Сергея мог оказаться любой честный гражданин. Президент России Дмитрий Медведев потребовал проведения расследования произошедшего и совместно с депутатами Думы и представителями Совета Федераций принял ряд серьезных законопроектов, очень важных для общества. Однако мало кто знает, каким человеком был Сергей Магнитский, чья гибель привела к такому общественному резонансу. Именно этому посвящен документальный фильм.

16 и 17 ноября 2010 года, в память о Сергее Магнитском, во многих странах мира состоятся культурно-политические акции. В шести столицах мира пройдет мировая премьера уникального фильма голландских документалистов «Сергей Магнитский – Справедливость. Закон. Судьба».

Forth Winter School for Human Rights, Moscow 22-30, January, 2011
In cooperation with Youth Human Rights Movement Moscow Helsinki Group will hold 4th Winter school for human rights within educational program International School for Human Rights and Democracy.

On the 4th of November Buryatia HR defenders held protest action against Article 282 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and to support Nadezhda Nizovkina and Tatiana Stetsura, accused by this Article, Co-chairwomen of the Buryatia department of Solidarnost Movement and members of Democratic Union. They are also participants of Human Rights Network’s project ‘Electronic Human rights Education for Lawyers’, which is part of the capacity building program ‘International Law in Advocacy’.

Independent Psychiatric Association of Russia holds a seminar ‘How to treat people with mental disorders’ in cooperation with Perm Human Rights Center. The seminar is aimed at prevention of violation of rights of citizens with mental disorders, more effective protection of their rights, prevention of tortures, violent humiliating treatment of this category of citizens including rude treatment by staff of hospitals. The main target group is human rights defenders.
