Helsinki Committee comments Tadic’s visit to Banja Luka
President of the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in B&H, Srdjan Dizdarevic reckons the visit of president of Republic of Serbia, Boris Tadic to Banja Luka (Serbian entity of B&H), had the purpose of cooling down the tensions and purpose of decreasing the potential reaction of the political management of Republic of Srpska, after the decision of High Representative on suspension of all decisions made by National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska.
NGOs in B&H: Stop the hate speech!
Non-governmental organizations from Bosnia and Herzegovina demand from the responsible institutions to immediately sanction the hate speech made last week by Drago Kalabic, the Chief of the Club of Representatives of SNSD (Party of Independent Social Democrats) in the House of Representatives, during the TV program “Posteno”.
Tasim Kucevic admits his guilt for the attack
Tasim Kucevic (48) who physically attacked the woman on April 21st in front of the Courthouse in Sarajevo, has declared himself guilty. The woman is Safija Mahmutovic, aunt of 2 young girls who were Kucevic’s women trafficking victims. One girl, Almira Cajic, commited suicide back in 1996 after Kucevic took her in Italy from refugee camp, while the other girl was killed, also in Italy.
Petition: Stop the attacks on Kosovar journalists
A petition from Kosovo NGOs and different medias in Kosovo and Albania, requesting the Kosovo Assembly to undertake steps to protect freedom of expression, independent media and democracy in Kosovo, is open for signatures.
Federation of B&H violates the right to life
According to Renesansa’s recent informal statement there are 87 women in Federation of B&H, who are on the waiting list for the cure against breast cancer, Herceptin (which is in most regional countries available for all women in need of it). Triggered by this fact, the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights wrote a public statement and addressed it to B&H authorities urging them to instantly eliminate this shameful waiting list.
Balkan in shock: Ratko Mladic at loose
Public in Bosnia and Herzegovina and in the region, is still in shock after watching recently broadcasted new video materials of top war crimes fugitive, Ratko Mladic in the special edition of TV political magazine “60 minuta” on Federal Television. The videos broke the rumors that Mladic is hiding in Serbia. He is in fact, not hiding at all.
