10 October – World Day against the Death Penalty
On 10 October the 11th anniversary of the World Day Against the Death Penalty was marked. Civil society activists from different countries reminded the international community about the absurdity of this kind of punishment and the cruelty of executions.
UN expert calls to stop executions after recent court rulings

Position summary: The Belarusian Human Rights House (HRH) Project management and fundraising officer is responsible for the planning, development and overall coordination/implementation supervision of various projects implemented by the HRH; for fundraising, liaising with donors and partners on project-related issues. The officer assists the HRH director and the Board in advocacy, strategic planning and implementing various activities organized by the HRH. The officer reports to the HRH director and president.

Political prisoner inflicted serious injuries on himself protesting actions of prison authorities
Political prisoner Mikalai Autukhovich (right) blade cut his abdomen in protest against the humiliating attitude of the prison administration. Despite the his exemplary behavior, the administration tried to discredit him, filing a report stating that he was not in his bed after the lights-out time.
Belarusian human rights defenders learned about the work of the Ombudsman in Ukraine
As part of the educational program “International Law in Advocacy” the Belarusian human rights defenders had a meeting with their Ukrainian colleagues and had the opportunity to learn about the experiences of the office of the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights.
