The mandate of the Special Rapporteur on Belarus extended for another year
According to the results of voting during the 29 session of the Human Rights Council, it was decided to extend the mandate of the UN special rapporteur on Belarus for another year.During this session, the Special Rapporteur on Belarus, Miklós Haraszti (right) has also presented a report on the current human rights situation in the country.
Statkevich – political prisoner, who is planed to be put up as a presidential candidate
Six political prisoners remain imprisoned in Belarus, among them – the ex-presidential candidate in the 2010 elections, Mikalai Statkevich. A number of democratic structures united around the initiative to nominate Statkevich as a president in the current elections. This step should serve as manifestation of solidarity and draw public attention to the problem of political prisoners, who are still under pressure in prisons.
The work of ILIA project: organizing the education of lawyers of new generation
Lawyers of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Moldova, Russia and Ukraine are currently undergoing training in the third cycle of the project “Electronic Human Rights Education for Lawyers”. At the end of June a working meeting of the project team was held in Vilnius, that allowed to analyze the information received from the audience, and develop a series of actions to improve the educational process.

Belarusian human rights defenders express solidarity with political prisoners in Azerbaijan
On 12 June, the opening of the first European Olympic Games was held in Azerbaijan. As a part of the campaign “Sport for Rights”, Belarusian human rights defenders organized photo action in support of political prisoners in Azerbaijan – human rights defenders, activists and journalists.

The human rights organization Amnesty International has recognized Yury Rubtsou a prisoner of conscience and considers the sentence to him as a part of the long-term campaign of persecution of civil society activists by the Belarusian authorities.
Solidarity action “Sport For Rights”
The opening of the first European Olympic Games will be held in Azerbaijan on June 12. On this occasion, The Barys Zvozskau Belarusian Human Rights House will organize an action of solidarity with the Azerbaijani human rights defenders that suffer from politically motivated prosecution.
Advocacy events on the situation in Azerbaijan
As part of advocacy work on Azerbaijan towards the United Nations and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, HRHF is organising events in Geneva (16 June 2015) and in Strasbourg (23 June 2015 ).
