Azerbaijani government uses refugee mobs to justify keeping journalist in jail
The Appellate Court considered Eynulla Fatullayev’s appeal from the earlier convictions yesterday. Fatullayev, right, a prominent Azeri journalist, has been convicted on various charges, including terrorism and tax evasion. Many international organizations, including the Council of Europe, OSCE and the European Union, considered those charges to be frivolous and have called on the Azerbaijani government to release the journalist from jail.

In July, a year has gone by since the bloggers Emin Mili and Adnan Hajizade were beaten up and detained in Baku. Right, protesters against their continued detention.
Azerbaijan continues to ignore its international obligations
The Azerbaijani authorities ignore pressure from the international community. Most recently, few days after the visit to Republic of Azerbaijan of United States Secretary of State Hillary Clinton the editor Eynulla Fatullaeyv has been sentenced to 2,5 years imprisonment despite appeals from the United Nations and the Council of Europe.

Thomas Hammerberg unveils report regarding Azerbaijan
