United Nations renews Special Rapporteur mandate on Belarus

The UN Human Rights Council has adopted a resolution renewing the mandate of the Special Rapporteur on Belarus for another year. The resolution also raises a wide range of human rights violations in the country and urges Belarus to enact reforms and to fully cooperate with the Special Rapporteur.

Support Human Rights House Voronezh through Crowdfunding

Human Rights House Voronezh has launched a campaign to raise 290,000 RUB (4,043 EUR) with crowdfunding. The amount will cover six months’ rent, secretary costs for the legal aid public reception office, and renovation of the co-working space.

On 29 June, HRHF delivered a statement addressing the human rights situation in Ukraine and welcoming the report of the UN Human Rights Monitoring mission in the country. HRHF made this statement during the regular periodic update on Ukraine at the 32nd session of the Human Rights Council.

Rule of law under threat in Poland

Civil society and national and international bodies have expressed concern at recent reforms in Poland and their impact on the rule of law. These reforms include changes to the functioning of the Constitutional Court, a law granting government control over TV and radio, a law granting additional powers of surveillance, and the merging of the functions of the Justice Minister and the formerly independent Prosecutor General.
