Members of parliament criticize the Azeri ombudsperson
On March 4, the Azeri Ombudsman Elmira Suleymanova, right, presented her annual report in the Azeri Parliament. Suleymanova touched issues such as the situation of speech freedom in the Republic of Azerbaijan. Anti-Discrimination and Diversity training
A seminar organized by the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights as part of the program “Anti-Discrimination and Diversity training; VT/2006/009”, funded by the European Commission, took place in Warsaw on 29 February – 1 March 2008. Representatives of nongovernmental organizations and trade unions dealing with the subject matter of anti-discrimination throughout Republic of Poland participated in seminar.(05-MAR-08)

3 March 2008 opposition protesters held rallies in Moscow and Saint-Petersburg against the election of Dmitry Medvedev, Vladidmir Putin`s protege. The Moscow authorities without any reason didn`t give an official permission for conducting the March, so it was unauthorized. As a result, dozens of people were beaten and more than 100 arrested by police. (05-MARCH-08)

14 entrepreneurs on criminal charges for participation in peaceful protest
The preliminary investigation of the criminal case on ‘mass riot on 10 January 2008 in Minsk’ is over. That day several thousand representatives of small businesses came to Kastrychnitskaya Square to protest against the president’s decree #760 by which they were prohibited to employ more than three close relatives since 1 January.
