Kurdish politician on trial following his criticism of Prime Minister

Mahmut Alinak, former Kars province (eastern Turkey) party chair of the pro-Kurdish Democratic Society Party (DTP), is on trial and facing a possible prison sentence, for a letter he sent Prime Minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in which he said, “You have deceived the people of Kars.”

Radio station closed by forces controlling south-western Somalia

The National Union of Somali Journalists (NUSOJ) condemns the closure of the private radio station Radio Maandeeq in Baladhawo district of Gedo region. This morning, around 07:00, Al-Shabaab forces controlling the south-western regions of Republic of Somalia ordered the management of the radio to shut down the station, according to the station’s journalists.
