Civic Committee for Human Rights (GOLJP) and Documenta protest against planned location for realization of the concert of the Croatian singer Thompson (on right), who is known for his ultranationalistic hate-speeches and songs. The concert is planned to be organized at the main square in Zagreb, which GOLJP and Documenta find inadequate.

The National Union of Somali Journalists (NUSOJ) is shocked by the death of veteran journalist Nur Muse Hussein, right, pictured in his hospital bed shortly before he died. Nur Inji, as he was also known, passed away today from injuries he sustained from a targeted shooting in Beledweyne city of Hiran region in Central Republic of Somalia on 20 April 2009.

Sudan’s parliament debates harsh new press law

Reporters Without Borders and Sudanese lawyer and parliamentarian Salih Mahmoud Osman, winners in 2005 and 2007 of the Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought, have made a plea for amendments to be made to a harsh draft law on the written press currently going through parliament.
