Amnesty International said it deeply regrets the choice of Swiss voters on Sunday to introduce a ban on the construction of minarets into the constitution. The ban, which takes immediate effect, violates the freedom of religion of Muslims living in the country.

Media campaign in Croatia: Violence leaves marks
CMS recently promoted their TV video clip named “Violence leaves marks“, and published two so called ”peace posters” within their campaign „Peace in Schools“. The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness of general public and decision makers in the area of education, on issue of violence and violent behaviour among youth and its permanent consequences on the society.
Eritrean diaspora coalition advocates UPR report at the UN
Following the submission of a report on the human rights situation in Eritrea to the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, a coalition of five diaspora organisations and networks, representing four different continents, are currently in Geneva to advocate the main issues of concern and suggest recommendations for a select group of national delegations, for them to place those during the Universal Periodic Review hearing of Eritrea, in the morning of Monday 30 November.

The activities of the Institute of National Remembrance should be transparent
The Supreme Administrative Court, in a verdict from 28 October 2009, stated that the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights has the right to expect the President of the Institute of National Remembrance to explain on what legal basis the employees of the institute use the institute’s documents.
