Vilnius training on trial monitoring methodologies
The Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) shared its trial-monitoring methodology with lawyers and civil society representatives from Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia at a training workshop in Vilnius on 25 and 26 November 2013, organized in co-operation with the Belarusian Human Rights House.
Court: extradition of Belarusian oppositionist is inadmissible
The Circuit Court in Warsaw found that a decision to extradite an opposition activist to Belarus was inadmissible under the law. The proceedings in the case had been pending for a few months.In the first instance, the Circuit Court held that the activist can be legally handed to the Belarusian authorities.

The UN General Assembly proclaimed 10 December as Human Rights Day in 1950, to bring to the attention ‘of the peoples of the world’ the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as the common standard of achievement for all peoples and all nations.
For their Human Rights Day activities this year, organisers may also choose to include one or more of the human rights achievements of the past two decades.

Observation report on Independence March
The HFHR prepared an observation report on the Independence March in Warsaw that took place on 11 November 2013. “The report is based only on the information prepared by ten independent observers from the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights who participated in the monitoring – on their reports and on their recorded video and photographic materials”, says Danuta Przywara, President of the HFHR. “Hence it should not be treated as comprehensive observation but as an objective summary of what the observers managed to see”, adds Ms Przywara.
