From the 1st of January – 31st of March, women activists Women to Women and youth group „FenixFam“, implement the project „Gender equality and Youth – raising the consciousness through interactive approach“.

The purpose is promoting the quality of life through avoiding violation, strengthening the tolerance and gender equality, realising identity problems, pedagogies and teen – aging issues.

This project holds in Sarajevo, in four high schools and two primary schools in special organised lecturer-rooms. It is funded by the municipality Centre of Sarajevo and City of Sarajevo.

The project includes 16 workshops, each workshop has around 25 young people.

Interactive character of the workshops includes discussion, conversation between attendees and lecturers, so, they get knowledge about the sex differences, gender issues and other questions they are interested in. Lecturers are experienced and educated young people, specially educated for gender issues, with international acknowledge certificates.

Very often, these answers children can not get only from their teachers and parents and this project should help them in their growth through promoting the value of non-violence, tolerance and sex-equality.

We, the undersigned members of the Network of Human Rights Houses and other international civil society organisations urge the government of Georgia to immediately end the ongoing repressions against independent voices. We condemn the use of illegal and disproportionate force against largely peaceful protestors, physical attacks against civil society representatives, alleged illegal detention of a well-known blogger, coordinated campaign of smear, harassment and intimidation against journalists, human rights defenders and their family members, including children.

Human Rights House Foundation joins a coalition of press freedom, journalists and human rights organizations led by The International Press Institute (IPI) in writing to Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, urging him to withdraw the Law on Transparency of Foreign Influence, guarantee the safety of journalists and uphold press freedom in Georgia.
