It´s time to say: Stop Nazism! On 1 September, by initiative of several Russian anti-fascist organizations, the international movement Europe without Nazism was launched. (06-SEP-05)

For more on why the paper-clip has become the logo of this campaign, see below.

On the 60th Anniversary of the Victory unfortunately we can see that the Nazis movement is still alive and the resistance against it hasn?t lost its meaning. Nazism is gathering strength, so opposition to it is becoming an urgent task of all progressive mankind. We think that on the 60th Anniversary of the Victory it?s time to say ?Stop Nazism!?

We appeal to representatives of non-governmental antifascist and human rights organizations and ordinary people to leave their signature on the Manifest-2005 ?Dream about Europe without Nazism? as a sign to be ready for solidarity and united actions to show that Nazism can?t continue.

We offer everyone who shares the ideas of ?Manifest-2005? to put it on your web sites. We also call you to put anti-fascist articles on your web-sites. We appeal to journalists and mass-media and request that they distribute this information amongst their audience. We want hundreds of people to say ?Stop Nazism!? in different languages so that we can all oppose Nazism together. You can find more information at: http://www.stopnazism.hrworld.ru/eng/

The Russian Research Center for Human Rights shares the ideas of this movement and asks that everyone supports them.

WHY A CHAIN OF PAPER-CLIPS? IF YOU ARE AGAINST NAZISM, PUT A PAPER-CLIP ON YOUR CLOTHES.

The Paper-clip of Norwegian resistance
In February of 1942 the Nazi government of occupied Norway issued an order about establishment of National Pedagogic Union, in which participation was obligatory for every teacher of primary and secondary school in the whole country. This had to guarantee upbringing of the new generation supporting ideas of national-socialism. Such actions were on the one hand the consequence of Hitler’s directive “Bring back the Norwegians to me!” and on the other hand the reaction to strong resistance movement to the Nazi policy.

Almost all teachers refused join the Nazi union, because “upbringing of the children according to the Nazi order acts against their conscience”. Then the government started to dismiss and arrest teachers. More then 1300 of them were sent to concentration camps, 500 were sent to labor camps. As response the strike of all educational institutions begun. And ordinary paper-clip became the sign of solidarity with teachers and other participants of those strikes. It has been proposed to put it on for every person who shared the ideas of resistance. As a result of such a strong resistance in the population Nazi government had to change its policy. In October 1942 all arrested teachers were released from custody and the membership in the National Pedagogic Union was not obligatory anymore.

But today resistance is going on!
