Among the organisations in the Human Rights House in Sarajevo, the Serbian Civil Council / Movement for Equality Bosnia and Hercegovina, a branch of the Cantonal Serbian Civil Council in Sarajevo  plays a significant role in offering various kinds of help and protection to people all across Bosnia and Hercegovina. Most importantly , the Council fights for equality. It insures that the political, social and cultural status of Serbs is equal to that of other nations in the Federation of Bosnia and Hercegovina. In addition, it p rotects the rights of other nations and minorities in the Republic of Srpska . Finally, it ensures the minimum social standards for people with social and special needs. This year, the prime priority of the Serbian Civil Council has been to lobby for harmonisation of the Cantonal Constitution with the Constitution of the Federation of Bosnia and Hercegovina. The purpose of this adjustment is to provide the equal status of all in both entities.

Now, towards the end of the year, having fundraised throughout the year, the Serbian Civil Council will fund the repair work needed to the homes of the ten Serbian families in the Canton of Sarajevo found to be in the most urgent need of such help . The Council intends to continue this kind of very concrete, material work also in 2004 and beyond.
