The recent presidential elections in Ukraine have thrown the country into an
unprecedented political turmoil. The Central Election Commission has
declared Viktor Yanukovich the winner, whereas the opposition candidate,
Viktor Yushchenko, has taken the presidential oath in the parliament. While
tensions are building up in Kiev, the EU has now dispatched negotiators, and
the Supreme Court is supposed to make a ruling on alleged rigging of the
elections.

In this context, it is a great pleasure for us to invite you to a seminar with a
panel of Ukrainian politicians and experts on Ukrainian politics.

The panel
will consist of

· Ihor Ostash, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Foreign
Affairs, the Verkhovna Rada
· Yevhen Zakharov, Co-Chair, Kharkiv Human Rights Group
· Tor Bukkvoll, Senior Researcher, the Norwegian Defence Research
Establishment
· Jeremy Franklin, OSCE Long Time Observer to the Presidential
Elections
· Jana Sverdljuk, Researcher, the Centre for Russian Studies, NUPI
Helge Blakkisrud (NUPI) will chair the seminar.

Please notify your participation to NUPI’s reception no later than Wednesday 1 December at 12.00
