The inauguration of the activity of the Committee for Solidarity with Cuba took place on 24 April 2007 at the Museum of John Paul II Collection – Janina and Zbigniew Porczyñski Gallery in Warsaw. The meeting provided an opportunity to present the ideas behind the establishment of the Committee and its planned activity, as well as to pass an appeal directed to Cubans. (25-APR-07)

President Lech Walesa is the originator and the Head of the Committee and the Committee Members include inter alia: Leszek Balcerowicz, Wladyslaw Bartoszewski, Tadeusz Mazowiecki, Czeslaw Bielecki, Bogdan Borusewicz, Zbigniew Bujak, Tadeusz Fiszbach, as well as Marek Antoni Nowicki, the President of the Helsinki Foundation for Human Rights.
The Committee’s members believe that Poland’s experience in peaceful political transformation is exceptional and may be useful also for Cubans and offer their support in this respect. As part of its activity, the Committee would also like to help in developing the European Union’s foreign policy towards Cuba.
