The students of Warsaw schools of above-elementary level as well as teachers are invited to meetings, during which they discover the underestimated diversity of the Polish capital’s inhabitants. Thanks to that project they learn, above other things, tolerance to differences. Within the confines of the program, inter alia the project ´Living Library´ was launched.
Borrow a refugee, a blind, a disabled person
The ´Living Library´ is a peculiar lending library – where there are people instead of books. Each individual can ´borrow´ a refugee, blind person or e.g. a representative of the Vietnamese opposition and have a conversation. Representatives of minorities residing in the Polish capital, interesting social groups, representatives of Warsaw’s cultural diversity, people full of authentic reports tell their stories during ´Living Library´ meetings. These types of meetings provide an opportunity to do more than merely observe these people’s distinctness. A series of debates about diversity, equality and dialogue, intended for grammar-school and high-school students, is scheduled for September.
