Center for Peace Studies would like to point out to the Government of Republic of Croatia that Government of Israel is violating Security Council resolution 1830 eighth day by now. The resolution requests the immediate cease-fire by Israeli military forces in Gaza. However, it is evident that Israeli army is not withdrawn from Gaza, but continues its military operations there.

According to information that come from media and other non-governmental organizations in the conflicted area, the biggest victim of the conflict is again civil society. The number of killed civilians outreached 1000 and it is utterly unacceptable to call them collateral damage.

The resolution was not fully respected, especially the part that invocates the resolution of conflict in order that humanitarian and medical help could be provided to civil society of Gaza. Also, the public is not informed whether smuggling of weapons in Gaza is still ongoing or whether it is terminated.

Regarding the above mentioned, CMS asks from the Republic of Croatia to take diplomatic actions in the Security Council that will force both sides in conflict to fully implement the resolution. CMS also asks the Government to present all information to Croatian public  regarding the activities that Republic of Croatia takes to end this conflict and whether Republic of Croatia has sent any kind of humanitarian or medical help to the victims of the conflict.

Since both sides in conflict are not the signers of International Criminal Court Constitution, CMS is afraid that violation of  war rights (Geneva Convention) and alleged war crimes about which media agency and other NGOs inform us, could remain unpunished and thus, contribute to the trend of violence and bad relations between Israel and Palestine. CMS recommends that Republic of Croatia inside Security Council starts an initiative of forming ad hoc International Criminal Court in the area of Israel and Palestine, which would investigate the allegations on war rights violations and sanction the perpetrators.

CMS also reminds the Croatian public that today is 11 years of peaceful integration of Croatian Podunavlje and believes that peaceful resolution can be find and made for this conflict as well.
