Hrodna Prosecutor’s Office officially warned the head of Minsk Regional organization of United Civil Party Maryna Bahdanovich. The reason was her radio speech as a candidate to the Parliament at Hrodna regional radio, in which the prosecutor´s office allegedly found insults to Aliaksandr Lukashenka. (16-JAN-2005)

The prosecutor’s office is of the opinion that in her speech Maryna Bahdanovich slandered the head of the state. The prosecutors found features of violation of article #367 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus in her expressions about possible relation of president to illegal sale of arms and usage of the financial means, received from such operations.

Hrodna Leninski Borough Prosecutor’s Office warned Maryna Bahdanovich about inadmissibility of violations and explained that in the case it repeats she would be punished.
    
Minsk Prosecutor’s Office conducts similar check-ups concerning the speeches of the former candidates to the Parliament, opposition activists Aleh Volchak and Aliaksandr Tsynkevich.
