Along with the author, the characters from the book – the head of the Human Rights Centre “Viasna” Ales Bialiatski and the member of the Board of “Viasna” and the President of the Belarusian HRH Tatsiana Reviaka – will be present during the event. The book contains essays and photographs reflecting different periods in the lives of the characters, including Zianon Pazniak, Viktar Hanchar, Yury Zakharanka, Mikalai Statkevich, Sviatlana Aleksievich, Vital Silitski and others. “In fact, “Contemporary History in Faces” is a literary and expanded version of the reference book “Who is Who”. This allows you to use one book to get an almost complete picture of the socio-political landscape of Belarus” – in this way the book is described by its author Aliaksandr Tamkovich.
Aliaksandr Tamkovich is a journalist, the author of several books about important political events in Belarus and their impact on the lives of some people – political prisoners, social activists, human rights defenders. The book “Contemporary History in Faces” has two publishing options – Belarusian and English , both of them will be presented during the event. The photographs from the book will be demonstrated as part of a multimedia presentation.
