Supporting Network partners with coaching and mentoring
In 2024, HRHF offered one-on-one support for advocates from the Network of Human Rights Houses as part of its strategic coaching and mentoring work. This included working closely with partners like Anastasiya Dziubanava from the Belarusian Helsinki Committee, who was involved in advocating on two key resolution processes on Belarus at the UN Human Rights Council on the establishment of the Group of Independent Experts and the renewal of the Special Rapporteur’s mandate. HRC58: Over 1,200 Belarusian political prisoners remain behind bars, while those in exile face in-absentia prosecution
On 19 March 2025, Human Rights House Foundation delivered a statement at the 58th session of the UN Human Rights Council, highlighting the continued imprisonment of human rights defenders in Belarus and the growing transnational repression faced by Belarusians in exile.
OSCE Supplementary Human Dimension Meeting I: Media freedom in Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Georgia

Portraits of Strength exhibition at HUMAN in Oslo
From 10-16 March 2025, the third edition of the Portraits of Strength exhibition, featuring women human rights defenders from the Network of Human Rights Houses, is exhibited at Vega Scene in Oslo as part of the Human International Documentary Film Festival.
Belarusian and international NGOs call for renewed and strengthened Belarus mandates ahead of HRC58
In a joint letter delivered on 28 February 2025, Human Rights House Foundation and several international and Belarusian civil society organisations urged the UN Human Rights Council Member States to support the renewal and strengthening of the mandates of the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Belarus and the Group of Independent Experts on the Situation of Human Rights in Belarus.
ESU – Emergency Support Ukraine
From June 2022 to November 2024, Human Rights House Foundation (HRHF) implemented a 30-month regional project that provided opportunities for emergency support for Ukrainian civil society and independent media in the wake of the full-scale Russian invasion. The project was funded by the European Union and implemented by ERIM-led coalition of partners, including including Barys Zvozskau Belarusian Human Rights House, Black Sea Trust, East Europe Foundation, Human Rights House Tbilisi and HRHF.
Advocating for increased support for civil society, and marking 30 years of the Network of Human Rights Houses
From October 7-11, 2024, 15 human rights defenders from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Russia, Serbia, and Ukraine gathered for a week of advocacy as a part of the Network of Human Rights Houses’ 30th anniversary celebrations. Human Rights House Foundation (HRHF) and Network partners aimed to deepen engagement with Norwegian policymakers and raise awareness of critical human rights challenges across the region, emphasising the need for increased political and financial support from Norway for civil society.
