About the organization: The Barys Zvozskau Belarusian Human Rights House (BHRH) was founded by the Belarusian human rights organizations in 2006. It is a member of the Human Rights House Network, which brings together over 90 human rights NGOs in 15 Houses in different countries. BHRH mission is support and development of the human rights movement in Belarus. BHRH cooperates with many Belarusian and international partners toward improving the human rights situation, strengthening human rights defenders and their organizations in Belarus and other countries of the world. In 2016-2017 BHRH will be focusing on strengthening the human rights community in Belarus and its capacity to operate effectively and jointly and is looking for a project coordinator to lead these activities.
Position summary: The Project Coordinator is responsible for planning, organizing and controlling project activities under the guidance and supervision of the BHRH Project Management and Fundraising Officer and BHRH Director.
Responsibilities:
- Providing overall coordination of the project and planned activities, including internal monitoring of results;
- Preparing project reports and submitting them to donors and partners;
- Doing the project-related paperwork;
- Liaising with Belarusian and international partners of the organization about the project planning, implementation, reporting and fundraising;
- Translations from/into English, Russian, and Belarusian within the framework of the project;
- Frequent travels to the regions in Belarus;
- Organizing and moderating discussions on human rights issues within the framework of the project;
- Staying up to-date on political and social developments in Belarus that may affect the project implementation;
- Performing other duties delegated by the BHRH Project Management and Fundraising Officer and BHRH Director.
Required skills/experience
- Experience in project management in non-profit organizations
- General experience in NGO and/or development cooperation work
- Professional experience from Belarus
- General knowledge about the human rights, political, economic and social situation in Belarus and the region of Eastern Europe
- Planning, monitoring and evaluation
- Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills in Belarusian, Russian and English
- At least basic financial management skills/literacy
- Good analytical and team work skills
- A very good level of computer/Internet skills, including strong command of MS Office/OpenOffice/LibreOffice; email; Internet search and analysis of search results; instant messengers; social networks.
