Presentation of Children’s Alternative report on the rights of children in Macedonia prepared by the children involved in the project “Building a culture of children’s participation” which is a project implemented by the First Children’s Embassy in the World – Megjashi, will happen on Thursday, January 21st, 2010, at 10:30 pm, in the office of the First Children’s Embassy in the World – Megjashi

According to the report:    3 / 4 of the children did not know their rights, 1 / 3 of the children argue that the professors (teachers) do not respect their rights. half of the children claim that they have witnessed school violence, only 6% of children are familiar with some SOS-telephone number where s/he could turn for help, and 1 / 3 of them actually addressed to it regarding some problem. The right to equality (no discrimination) is one of the least known rights (2%) 
  
More on the opinion of children about their rights and situation in Macedonia will be presented at the press conference. 

The agenda of the press conference is following:

10:30-10:35 Catherine Koneska – Lawyer of the First Children’s Embassy in the World – Megjashi, will speak about the process of preparing an alternative report of children;

10:35 to 10:45 Elena Dimitrievska – Representative of the Children’s alternative report at the Committee on the Rights of the Child in Geneva; 

10:55 to 10:55 Vaska Bojaxhi – Representative of the Children’s alternative report at the Committee on the Rights of the Child in Geneva.

Moderator: Catherine Koneska – Lawyer of the First Children’s Embassy in the World – Megjashi .

This report will be sent to the Committee on the Rights of the Child UN and it will be presented by Elena Dimitrievska and Vaska Bojaxhi in front of the UN Committee on February 3, 2010, in Geneva.
