We are looking for a versatile communication advisor to our small, creative and efficient communication department in the Oslo office. You will be working closely with the Communication Manager creating effective communication for a competent and diverse human rights network. The person we are looking for has an understanding of and experience with imaging, creating and publishing online content on web sites and social media. You have a keen interest in communication, news, media, human rights, social media, international issues and design. The communication adviser will also be responsible for the graphics and layout of flyers, booklets and reports. We would like to start working with you as soon as possible, but are also willing to wait for the right candidate. 

The secretariat has 15 employees in Oslo, Geneva, Brussels and Tbilisi. We are a small organisation supporting a network of 90 non-governmental organisations. Therefore we need all staff to be highly motivated and engaged in both human rights and its own field of expertise. We need to be highly independent in creating ideas, developing and finalising products, at the same time good teamwork skills are required. We can offer a central position in an international network working on human rights issues. You will be supported and inspired by competent and engaged co-workers. At the same time you will have the opportunity to develop your skills in communication and human rights work. For the right person there is room to create and implement your own projects.

Main responsibilities:

  • Develop and create content for the website humanrightshouse.org, this includes developing ideas for articles, writing and publishing them.
  • Edit and publish articles from our members and partner organisations.
  • Develop and execute communication/media plans for event, visits and campaigns.
  • Assist members (Human Rights houses) in developing their pages on humanrightshouse.org.
  • Updating and publishing news and information on social media (https://www.facebook.com/HumanRightsHouseNetwork and for @HRHFoundation on twitter)
  • Design and layout of annual report, information materials, campaigns, and other printed or digital material.
  • Facilitate national and international campaigns linked to our core objectives and activities.
  • Work closely with the Communication Manager on online strategy, media plans and campaigns.

Qualifications:

  • Higher relevant education, preferable in journalism, communication, graphic design and layout or political science.
  • Relevant work experience in online content and graphic design.
  • Competent user of Photoshop/illustrator.
  • Relevant work experience in social media outreach.
  • Relevant work experience in journalism/communication work.
  • Excellent written and oral English, preferably also other languages. Knowledge of written and oral Norwegian is an asset but no precondition.  
  • Independent with good team working skills.
  • Service-minded, effective and focused on deliverability.
  • Creative.
