The Society for Humanitarian Research conducted Master Classes on Human Rights, Conflict Transformation and Gender Issues in Lenkaran. The classes were organized for local representatives of human rights organizations and mass media in 28-30 November 2007, and were financially supported by the South Caucasus office of Henrich Boell Foundation. 25 participants from Lenkaran took part in the event and the total number of participants of the master classes reached 80, as the similar events had already been organized in Baku and Ganja.
According to Avaz Hasanov (right), the director of the Society for Humanitarian Research, the master classes aimed at raising the professionalism of human rights activists and journalists in presenting information on Nagorno-Karabagh conflict. “There are ongoing negotiations on NK and the professional approach of journalists in highlighting the sensitive information is very important”.
The participants of the master classes in Lenkaran were also distributed the copies of “Southern News” newspaper, published in Masally region as well as information on the situation on human rights in Southern region as a reflection of activity of Human Rights Resource Center in Lenkaran.
