Recently, a mass grave was found in the north of Diyarbakir, the Kurdish newspaper, Welat, reports. According to the newspaper, this is not done by Saddam, but by the Turkish Army, maybe only ten years ago. It is claimed that the corpses belong to the villagers who were taken under custody during an operation which was hold by Turkish Army in 1993. No one has received any news from them since they were arrested. The bound and the stuff in the grave are delivered to the Puplic persecutor. (11-OCT-2004)
The inhabitants of Alacakoy village who applied Diyarbakir branch of Human Rights Association (IHD) in 2th november, informed that they have found the grave of their own relatives who disappeared after hving been taken under custody by the Turkish Army in 1993, when the solders were running an operation in the region in order to burn the villages and force them to move, leave the area.
The delegation, which was composed by Human Rights Association in order to investigate the claims, went to the mentioned area on 4th november and attained the bound and clothes of the villagers who were buried there as a whole. The delegation documented it all with photos and video camera records.
BRUTALITY ………………
According to the statment of Süleyman Yamuk, the aplicant of IHD, 11 october 1993, the troops who were coming form Kulp Gendarmary Commandary raided the village and the villagers called: Mehmet Sah Atala, Nusrettin Yerlikaya, Turan Demir, Behçet Tutus, Bahri Simsek, Serif ve Hasan Avar, M. Salih Akdeniz, Celil Aydogdu, Umit Tas and Abdi Yamuk took undercustody.
The 11 villagers who were taken under custody, were brought to Keper arable field, which is far away from the village, and kept there for ten days. Their hands were tied and they were not allowed to stand up. During those ten days the relatives were allowed to take some food to the eleven persons. The last day the soldiers ordered not to bring food anymore. Afterwards one more operation happened where the village was burnt and the villagers were forced to leave the village.
Nobody has heard from the arrested villages. The Alacakoy announced the forbidden millitary zone until 2001. and it was not possible to search for the corpses. The villagers applied to the Human Rights Court in Strassbourg. After the Court examined the case, Turkey was convicted as guilty and sentenced. But the fate of the villager still was not clear.
THE FAMILIES DIAGNOSED
One of the IHD managers, Mihdi perincek who were participating in the delegation says that : “We confronted shocking sight. There were human bounds and clothes. When we took the rest of the shirt which was perceptible under the soil, one of the families who were with us said that her husband was wearing this shirt when he was taken under custody.
THE BOUNDS IN THE GRAVE ARE DELIVERED TO THE OUOLIC PRESECUTOR Perincek says: “We met puplic presecutor Hakan Ali Erkan and gave him the bounds and the clothes we found in the grave. He said he would send them to Mus (nearest city) ans ask for DNA test.
