The students of the Independent Azerbaijan University continue the hunger strike since the 21-st of November. The protest is held for restoration of the students’ rights for education. Despite of the numerous calls of the respectful people to stop the action, the students insist on the their struggle until the victory. The health state of several students has already been significantly worsened. (26-NOV-06)

Bad health state
16 students started the hunger strike on the 21-st of November, currently 22 students are protesting. The number of strikers changes frequently, as the healthy state of several of them has been significantly deteriorated. Among them are Haji Aleskerov, Mirhakim Kerimov and Samir Babayev. 2 strikers had to be taken to the hospital at a critical stage.

Isa Gambar calls the strikers to be careful
Isa GambarThe hunger strike is taking place in the headquarters of the Musavat Party and among the frequent visitors is the head of the Party Isa Gambar (on the right). Despite of his support of the intention of the youth to struggle, Isa Gambar, urged the young people to be careful with their health. “In the country where the 16-days hunger strike of Ganimat Zahidov did not make any change, where such an influential TV channel as ANS is closed, such methods as hunger strike does not change much. You have to be careful about the methods of struggle and those who feel bad, should stop the hunger strike”.

Aynur Gurbanova sees no other way
The member of the Committee of Students’ Rights Protection Aynur Gurbanova said that the hunger strike is the last means to be heard. “a person must be healthy from moral, physical and social standpoints. Nowadays, Azerbaijan is living the social sickness, which make our youth to loose the physical health and undermine our moral state. What should we do?”

3 strikers – Haji Aleskerov, Vuqar Suleymanov and Aydin Hajizadeh plan to start the “DRY” hunger strike (without water) since Monday.
