HRHT and its member organisations aks the government of Georgia to support the Resolution on the situation of human rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran at the 34th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council. 

“We believe this resolution, which continues the mandate of the UN Special Rapporteur in Iran, is a significant tool for the protection of human rights defenders in the country and the promotion of human rights overall” – addressed HRHT and its member organisations the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia – Mr. Mikheil Janelidze, in a letter sent on 16.03.2017. 

Georgia was elected as a member of UN Human Rights Council for the years 2016-2018 and will carry out the Vice President’s functions during 2017.
