We urge the international community, with emphasis on the role of the EU, UNSC and ASEAN, to work to prevent Burma´s situation from returning to status quo”. The brutal crackdown on peaceful demonstrators by the military leadership in Burma calls for international attention and action.

The Human Rights House network supports the democratic movement´s demands for dialogue between the military junta, the democratic movement and ethnic groups, in order to achieve reconciliation and democracy in Burma.

The statement was signed by all delegates to the meeting, representing the established and emerging Human Rights Houses in Oslo, Bergen, Moscow, Warsaw, Sarajevo, Zagreb, London, Kampala, Gulu and Nairobi.
