Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in B&H is well known with the fact that in Federation of B&H there is still a waiting list for the cure against breast cancer – Herceptin, which is unacceptable from the perspective of human rights.
Helsinki Committee therefore, urges the authorities, particularly Government of Federation of B&H and Federal Ministry of Health, to instantly take concrete measures in order to eliminate this list and provide the cure for each patient who needs an adequate treatment and therapy.
Helsinki Committee reminds that this cure in Republic of Srpska, other entity of the state of B&H, but as well in other neighbour countries, is available for all women who suffer from breast cancer, without discrimination and realization of their right to life, via waiting list.
Article 3. of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, clearly says that: “Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person”. The state is fully responsible for the fulfillment of this right. The state thus, must take care and secure the conditions for preserving the lives of its citizens. Equally for all.
Helsinki Committee urges the authorities to, without delay, fulfill their commitment and make conditions for the women of B&H who suffer from breast cancer, to realize their right to life.
The waiting list must be eliminated, and the cure Herceptin must be available for all.
