Marking the 10th anniversary of the work of the Nansen Dialogue project, one of the in-house organisations of the Human Rights House in Oslo, the network that has emerged throughout the last decade hosted a seminar yesterday entitled ‘Dialogue – more than words’. The seminar also saw the official launch of a book, bearing the same title as the seminar, about the network’s history and activities. (14-DEC-05)
 
The seminar gave a presentation of the Network?s experience with dialogue and reconciliation work in conflict areas and divided societies, with emphasis on the importance of local ownership and institutional anchoring municipal administration, schools, etc).

Lecturers were Steinar Bryn and Ingrid Vik from the Nansen Dialogue Network,
Inge Eidsvåg from the Fritjof Nansen Academy, and Atle Sommerfeldt from the
Norwegian Church Aid. The presentations were followed by a plenary discussion with an engaged audience about the general potential of dialogue as a tool for conflict management.
