The latest efforts made by Polio plus are towards stronger and more frequent promotion of the necessity to establish wide social services net in our Country. For that purpose, the actual and permanent intention is to use all kinds of public opinion pressure and lobby all instances and authorities to create and adopt appropriate standards for social services for people with disabilities.

Concerning the IPPG which was recently established again, re-organized and now is consisted of 43 parliamentarians, which is the biggest number of representatives ever marked in Macedonian politics, its prior efforts and attention is focused on making pressure on authorities and Macedonian government, as well as the whole public to fasten the adoption of the Law for the protection of the people with disabilities’ rights.

On the other hand, the independent Trade Union for persons with disability “Egalite” is permanently on the track and rather serious meetings and negotiations on higher governmental level are already done, especially regarding the changes, amendments  and improving of actual  Law for employment of persons with disabilities.

In that context, both IPPG members and the leading team of the Trade Union “Egalite” realized a wide debate on this topic in Radovish. A necessity of more frequent and effective employment of persons with disabilities, especially in the wider business sector was emphasized again, as well as the need of becoming a member of “Egalite” comprehended as the most important mechanism for promoting but also for protecting the rights of persons with disabilities originated of their employment.

Finally, the most ‘hot’ topic and task is the Law for protection of discrimination on any ground.

“We direct all our actual and further efforts to raise public awareness concerning the adoption of such Law, supported by all NGOs united in the Coalition “Macedonia Without Discrimination”. This Coalition was recently finally established and regulated its structure and all managing bodies and relations, as well as its further strategy and action plan”, they state from Polio Plus.

Macedonia Without Discrimination is a coalition established in November 2008, when Polio Plus gathered all interested NGOs that work on human rights issues in Macedonia to prepare joint UPR submission. The Republic of Macedonia was reviewed by the UN official bodies within the UPR mechanism, in May this year.
