The heads of the Azerbaijan Foundation of Democracy Development and Human Rights Protection (AFDHR) Murad and Rena Sadaddinov held a roundtable, where the problems of former members of the Special Police Squad (SPS)  were mulled over.  The SPS members, who were imprisoned due to their alleged involvement in the coup attempt of 1995, raised the difficulties that they faced after their release. The human rights protectors and the SPS members were concerned with the difficulties connected with receiving their labor books, certificates on war invalids, on finding jobs and medical assistance. In general the discussions were going around a number of questions of rehabilitation of former prisoners, members of the SPS. In the process of the round table appeals were made to the president, the government and the society in order to draw their attention to the problem of support in the decision of the problems of former SPS members.

Meeting with Minister for Interior


Yesterday the leaders of the Azerbaijan Foundation of Democracy Development and Human Rights Protection Murad and Rena Sadaddinov met with the Minister of Interior Ramil Usubov. The meeting was held together with deputy Minister of Interior Asker Aleskerov and other responsible persons of the Ministry of Interior of Azerbaijan. During the meeting the Minister of Interior of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ramil Usubov acquainted the human rights protectors with the measures taken by the Ministry for the solution of the problems of the former SPS members that were raised as a result of the round table organized by the Azerbaijan Foundation of Democracy Development and Human Rights Protection. This way the Minister of Interior issued a decree on the creation of a special commission headed by the deputy minister of interior Asker Aleskerov which includes also the head of division of the Ministry of Interior on the work with the personal staff, cadres, economic, medical and other issues. The commission has been instructed to provide the former members of SPS with the necessary documentation, labor books, necessary certificates for the ones who are invalids of was before September 10.  The minister of Interior stated that by the end of the work of this commission which is September 10, a special report will be sent to the Azerbaijan Foundation of Democracy Development and Human Rights Protection describing the implemented work.
The two parties also discussed the collaboration between the Azerbaijan Foundation of Democracy Development and the Ministry of Interior.
As an addition the leaders of the Azerbaijan Foundation of Democracy Development and Human Rights Protection made an appeal to the Ministry of Social Provision of the Republic of Azerbaijan asking assistance on finding jobs for the SPS members.
