Belarusians lit candles in commemoration of the victims and announced a moment of silence. In the protocol of condolences kept at the embassy, ​​the activists wrote condolences and handed a letter to the embassy, ​​on behalf of the Belarusian Human Rights House, Human Rights Centre "Viasna", the Belarusian Helsinki Committee and the organization of "By Watch".

"We express our most sincere condolences to the Norwegian people and relatives of victims of the tragedy of 22 July, 2011. Great sorrow, faced by Norway and its citizens, also caused the pain and bitterness in our hearts, a deep empathy and strong protest against violent and bloody actions committed against peaceful citizens. We hope that the terrible events that took place in Norway, will further consolidate the society, and unite it around the idea of ​​democracy and human rights values, "- says the letter.

Participants of the rally also commemorated the April terrorist attack in Minsk, that happened at the metro station "Kastrychnitskaya", and claimed the lives of 15 people. The participants prayed for the souls of victims of terrorist attacks in Norway and Belarus.

On 22 July Norway suffered a twin terrorist attack. First, a bomb exploded near the government buildings in the centre of Oslo, the Office of the Prime Minister and the Ministries of Energy, Industry and Justice among them. The death toll of the explosion, according to police, came up to seven people while over 19 were injured. A few hours after the blast in Oslo, a man in police uniform started mass shooting at a youth camp on an island near the Norwegian capital. Police reports that close to 70 people were killed and dozens injured as a result of this second attack. Altogether there were around 600 people in the camp. At this moment 76 people are reported to be dead as a result of the double attack allegedly committed by the 32-year old Anders Behring Breivik.
