The Directory is a part of the result of the initiative “Reviving the Women’s Movement in BiH” (RWM) and represents an unordinary and relevant publication that contains main information on ninety nine (99) groups that participated in a mini survey  regarding the needs of the groups that work for women rights issues in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The first online platform of women’s groups in B&H is available here:

http://zenskegrupebih.fondacijacure.org

The aim of the platform is to inform the public on the work and activities of women rights groups in B&H, establish a network of such groups in B&H and create platforms for stronger and more efficient movement for women rights in B&H.

Part of the results of the research / survey on women’s groups in B&H were presented last week in the Assembly of the City of Sarajevo, by leaders of RWM initative, Taida Horozovic and Jadranka Milicevic.

Taida Horozovic declared that one of the main results of the research is the compliance of women’s groups to create the network of women’s groups in B&H, which is planned to be realized during the year 2009.

“Online directory will soon have an online search tool which will function via entered keywords. That will ease the access to requested information to all who are interested”, said Jadranka Milicevic.

The aim of the long-term initiative “Reviving the Women’s Movement in BiH”  is to present the movement for women’s human rights in Bosnia and Herzegovina and to provide and secure the information about work and achievements of women’s groups in B&H.

According to the survey that included 99 women’s groups, CURE Foundation offered recommendations to government institutions, under following priorities:

  • State strategy and budget for economic empowerment of women (42 or 42,4%),
  • Deadlines for the results of the work of the state organs regarding the issue of betterment of life standards of women in B&H (30,3% or 30)
  • State strategy for higher number of women on decision-making positions in the areas of economy and politics (24 or 24,2%),
  • Literacy and education of female children (21 or 21,2%)

CURE Foundation will continue the mapping of groups that work on promotion and protection of women rights in B&H through the first online platform. Platform offers, not only the list of women rights groups, but also news on their implemented activities.
